 Introduction:

A Bridge is a structure used to cross natural or artificial obstructions. The design period of a Bridge is critical for design. Retrofitting of a Bridge can considerably increase the design life of the Bridge.During recent earthquakes, more no of bridges are subjected to failure which created an awareness to evaluate the structural vulnerability under seismic ground motions, to develop the suitable retrofit measures

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

To extend the residual service life of the structures.

To enhance management, strengthening and repair systems

SUMMARY OF LITERATURES
It aims to characterize the effects of time varying dynamic loads from heavy traffic and bridge performance. Strain in the structures is monitored which is a crucial tool in supporting the behavior and safety of the structures. The structural response and the frequencies of concrete girder bridge was collected by non linear static procedure using SAP2000. By comparing the spectral displacement demand and the spectral displacement capacity from the curve obtained by pushover analysis. Depending upon the results, the strengthening techniques are adopted to increase the serviceability of the bridge

DESCRIPTION OF THE BRIDGE

The Bridge is built over railway crossing located near Moolakothalam, Tamilnadu, India. It is multi span simply supported RCC rectangular beam cum slab bridge with 24 spans and a total length of 564 meters. The longitudinal view of the bridge, elevation of the bridge bent and cross sectional view of the bridge are shown
